Belgium Vehicle Market

Belgium Vehicle Market was stable in the first half of 2014 while Renault and Volkswagen are disputing on market leadership with the French brand able to post three models in the top four and with the SUV Captur on podium.

In June 2014 accordingly with data released by FEBIAC total new Passengers Cars sold have been 42.397, down 1.8% from year ago. In the first half of 2014 sales have been 287.203, down 0.9% from year ago. As far as light commercial vehicles regards, in June total vehicles sold have been 4.590, down 7.5% and the third loss in a row, while in the first half total sales have been 30.102, down 4.4%.

In the last two months, Renault outpaced Volkswagen gaining the market leadership pushed up by Captur sales growth. June sales have been 4.987 with 10.5% of market share, losing5.3% of sales from year ago. In the first half, Renault was second with 31.144 sales and 9.7% of market share. In June the Captur was in the podium, first time ever, and ranking third with 925 sales. The Megane stand on top of the list with 1.382 sales and ranking second in the first half.

Volkswagen was second again with 4.518 sales and only 9.5% of share, losing over 10% of volumes from June 2013. In the first half, the German brand defended the market leadership from the Renault attack reporting 32.104 sales with a share of 10.0%. Volkswagen Golf was market leader in the half, despite recently performing worse than the Megane.

Peugeot  was third selling 3.929 units with 8.3% of share, up 0.8 points of share from May. In the first half, Peugeot was third as well with 27.150 retails and 8.5% of share. The 308 in June more than doubled sales from year ago, advancing in seventh place with 748 sales.
