Brazil car market

Brazil car market saw the worst june since 2010. Market fell 17%  and outlooks remains negative. The start of FIFA World Cup had also a negative impact on the short term sales with  Brazilian people focused only on Neymar and teammates.

In June 2014 accordingly with data released by Anfavea, the Brazilian Association of Car Manufacturers, total new Light Passengers Vehicles sold have been 250.655, down 17.2% from year ago. In the first half 2014 sales have been 1.582.755, down 7.3% from year ago.

The market sentiment remains negative and economic fundamentals have not been driving car sales. The reduced manufactured goods levy, known as IPI, for carmakers should be maintain for another six months until December.

In this environment, full year 2014 volume forecast issued by Anfavea looks inadequate expecting only a 1.4% decline while our Expert forecast is available in the recent publication dedicated to Brazil.
