Brazilian Cars Sales in November 2016

Brazilian Cars Sales in November fell moderately for the first time year to date, confirming that the economy is returning from rock bottom despite the road to recovery is likely to be long.

Market Outlook

Leading indicators suggest that the economy is on weak footing in Q4: consumer confidence and the manufacturing PMI fell in November. On the political front, progress has been made yet the stability of the government is at risk. The Senate approved a cap on federal spending in the first of two votes on 29 November, despite anti-austerity protests, a win for the government.

In November the registrations declined for the thirty-second time in a string, however it was the smallest sales losses recorded year to date.

According to data released by the Anfavea, the Brazilian Association of Car Manufacturers, in November the sales have been 174.157, down 8.0%. Year to date November the total light vehicles sales fell down 20.9%, at 1.785.850 units.

Competitive Arena

In the last month, Chevrolet retained the first step on the podium with 32.820 vehicles sold (+7.1%) with 18.8% of market share. Fiat was again in second place with 27.144 sales (-9.6%) ahead of Hyundai with 17.694 (+6.7%), Ford with 16.651 (-13.2%), Volkswagen with 16.044 (-35.5%), Toyota with 14.547 (+8.2%) and Renault with 14.440 (-3.7%).

The Chevrolet Onix was again the new the best-selling model with 15.700 sales (+31.0%) while the second was the Hyundai HB20  with 12.136 (-12.6%) ahead of the Ford Ka with 7.636 (-30.0%).

The Renault Sandero was in 4th place with 7.029 (+12.4%) followed by the Chevrolet Prisma with 5.927 (-9.3%), the Fiat Palio with 5.250 (-43.2%), the Volkswagen Gol with 5.182 (-19.4%), the Fiat Strada with 4.987 (-20.3%) and the Toyota Corolla with 4.970 (-12.7%).
