Canada Car Market in 2012 at 2nd best sales volume ever.

The car market in Canada posted 108.931 sales, down 4.9% from last year with the full year 2012 at 1.677.000 units, up 5.8%. This was the best volume year in the last decade and the second best ever.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Ford is really stable on top of the market. Last month sales were 16.497 with a share flat on November at 15.1%. Full Year sales were 269.813 with a share of 16.1%. Ford held 2 models in the top 5, with the F Series as strong market leader and the Escape 5th.

Honda ended the year in really good shape and in December surged in 2rd place (5th year-to-date), up 1 spot from the previous month, with 11.405 sales and 10.5% of share, up 1.9 points of share from the previous month and 3.0 points from Q3. Full Yea sales were 131.558, with a share of 7.8%. The top model was the Civic, climbed in 2nd place with a very narrow gap from the leadership.

Toyota was outpaced by Honda and was only 3rd with 10.578 sales and with a share of 9.7%, down 0.5 points of share from the previous month and 0.9 from Q3. Full Year it was 2nd with 174.174 sales and a share of 10.4%. The best-selling model was the Corolla stable in 8th place.

Chevrolet was 4th with 8.466 sales and 7.8% of share, down 0.3 points from the previous month. Full Year it was 3rd with 138.990 sales and a share of 8.3%. The best-selling model was the Silverado, 9th last month.

Hyundai was 5th with 7.863 sales and a share of 7.2%, down 0.8 points from the previous month. Full Yea it was 4th with 136.463 sales and a share of 8.1%. The top model was the Elantra stable in 4th.

Dodge was stable in 6th place selling 5.736 vehicles with a share of 5.3, down 0.1 points from the previous month. Full Year sales were 97.079 with a share of 5.8%. The best model was the Ram 3rd this month and 2nd in the full year.

Ram surged in the best place of the year and was 7th with 5.158 sales and 4.7% of share. Full Year it was 10th with 71.459 units and 4.3% of share.

GMC was stable in 8th with 4.912 sales and a share of 4.5%. Full Year it was 11th with 683123 sales and 4.1% of share.

Nissan was 9th with 4.439 units and a share of 4.1%. Full Year it was 8th with 74.142 sales and 4.4% of share.

Kia dropped in 10th, down 3 spots, with 3.960 units and a share of 3.6%, down 0.9 points of share from the previous month. Full Year it was 7th with 77.800 units and 4.6% of share.

Looking at the top models, the Ford F-Series on top of the list posted 7.027 sales with a share of 6.5%.

The Honda Civic in 2nd was near, with 6.666 sales and 6.1% of share, outpacing the Dodge Ram, 3rd with 5.100 sales and 4.7% of share.

Behind, all the position between the 4th and the 8th were unchanged; Ford Escape, GMC Sierra, Dodge Grand Caravan, Toyota Corolla.

Positive month was posted by the Cruze, surged in 10th from 15th, and by the Ford Fusion, in 19th from 31th.

Negative was the performance posted by Mazda3, in 14th from 9th and Ford Focus, in 17th from 14th.
