Canada Cars Sales September: Ford consolidated the leadership

Canada Cars Sales September

Canada Cars Sales September reported flat albeit the recent economic data are almost negative, sustained by a resilient domestic demand. Ford scored a 16.9% of market share.

Market Outlook

The Canadian economy is expected to have rebounded in Q3 after GDP fell 1.6% in Q2, which marked the worst performance since the height of the global financial crisis in 2009. The bleak figure was a result of the wildfires that disrupted oil production and forced the evacuation of Fort McMurray—Canada’s oil sands’ hub.

Although domestic demand remained resilient, with total consumption increasing robustly in Q2, it could not compensate for the massive decline in energy exports.

However the domestic auto market is still a little positive from last year and in September was flat. Indeed, according to the data released by the Canadian Transportation Authority, in September the new light vehicles sales had been 173.742, down only 0.2%.

Year to date September 2016 sales had been 1.495.127 units, up 2.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.
