Peru light vehicles sales fell 7% in the 2014 hit by slower economy and following years of records. Three brands held the half of the market and no one of them is American.

In December 2014 according to data released by A.R.A.P.E.R.total new Light Passenger Vehicles sold in Peru have been 13.546, down 2.7% compared with the correspondent period last year.

Full Year 2014 sales in Peru had been 164.689, down 7.2% from the all-time record volume scored in the previous year.

The market is split in two with the best three brands holding 49.8% of market share.

Toyota confirmed in 2014 the leadership selling 34.757 vehicles, down 8.6%, with share at 21.1%, down 0.5 points from 2013.

The second was Hyundai with 24.563 sales (-9.0%) with 14.9% of market share, down 0.4 points, followed by Kia with 22.739 units (+4.0%) and 13.8% of market share.

Behind there is one brand, Chevrolet, which follows just few points of share behind, selling 14.021 vehicles, followed by Nissan with 12.764 (+4.2%) and 7.8% of share.

As far as the car group’s performance and ranking, the leader was Hyundai with 28.7% market share, ahead of Toyota with 21.2% and General Motors with 8.5%.
