Chrysler is a brand of FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) Group brand. Originally it was a company founded in 1925 by Walter Chrysler and based in Detroit, USA. The Company flourished after the II World War expanding activities outside US and acquiring brands (as Dodge). However, in the 1970s a number of factors including the impacted Chrysler’s sales and the company was on the verge of bankruptcy before being rescued by Lee Iacocca. In 1987, Chrysler acquired American Motors Corporation (AMC), which brought the profitable Jeep brand under the Chrysler umbrella. In 1998, Chrysler merged with Daimler-Benz AG to form DaimlerChrysler; the merger proved contentious with investors and Chrysler was sold to Cerberus Capital Management and renamed Chrysler LLC in 2007. Rescue by bankrupt by US Government in 2009 entered in Fiat Group. Actually it’s one of the 11 FCA brands.
Chrysler Global sales performance in the 2018 is down an additional 15%, after having ended the 2017 below the all time record-low hit in the 2010, when the brand was rescued by Obama, leaving its destiny in the hands of F.C.A.
Chrysler sales performance in the 2017 has been one of the worse in absolute losing 19.3% hit by lost demand in Latin and North America. The brand is again near to disappear missing a clear and long-term product planning.
