Chinese Cars Market in November 2016

Chinese Cars Market in November scored the higher growth year to date, supported by the strong growth momentum. Wuling shined, pushed up by  the Wuling Hongguang V.

Market Outlook

The growth momentum has remained strong in Q4, as suggested by the manufacturing PMI for November, all eyes are on the Central Economic Work Conference (CEWC), expected to be held in mid-December. The CEWC will set the tone of the economy and policy for next year and will also establish the economic targets for 2017. In the political arena, China’s authorities stated that they are “seriously concerned” after President-elect Donald Trump questioned the “One-China” policy, which has been the cornerstone of China-U.S. relations since the 70s.

Meantime the domestic vehicles market in November recorded the highest sales volume of the year, hitting the 9th y.o.y. increase in a string.

According to the data released by the C.A.A.M., (China Association of Automobile Manufacturers), the total light vehicles sales (including both local produced and imported vehicles) in November had been 2.902.156 million, up +14.8%.

Year to date sales had been 24.627.038 million, up 13.3%.

Competitive Arena

In November Volkswagen retained the leadership 292.983 vehicles (+8.1%) keeping 10.1% of market share. Wuling ranked as second 178.481 sales (+25.9%) followed by Great Wall with 131.587 sales (+39.0%).

Behind, Honda was fourth with 128.519 sales (+30.7%) ahead of Hyundai with 127.425 (+15.0%), Nissan with 122.944 (+18.2%), Buick with 122.504 (+1.9%), ChangAn with 120.721 (+6.3%), Toyota with 115.168 (+7.3%) and in 10th place  Ford with 110.786 (+18.4%).

The best-selling model was the Haval H6 with 70.292 units (+74.4%) followed by the fast growing of Wuling Hongguang V and Wuling Hongguang, second with 68.025 respectively up 325.2% and down 20.0%, the Nissan Sylphy with 45.232 (+20.9%).

Fourth was the Hyundai Elantra with 44.729 sales (+51.2%) followed by the Volkswagen Lavida with 44.601 (-14.9%), the Baojun 730 with 44.365 (+77.4%), the Buick Excelle GT with 35.533 (+6.6%), the Toyota Corolla with 35.475 (+15.3%) and in 10th place the GAC Triumph GS4 with 32.088 (+30.2%).
