Chinese Electric Cars segment grew 70% in the 2017 reaching the 2% of total market and representing near the half of EVs global sales. Market leader was BYD with over 100.000 units. The best-selling model was the BAIC EC 180.

Chinese light vehicles market, the biggest in the World, is already fast growing, despite the real boom is expected for the year 2020. The  2017 mix by engine shows as the EVs segment grew up 70.7% while total industry only 2.7%. Out of the 28.5 million vehicles sold in the 2017, 600.174 were electric (+70.7%), reaching the 2% of total.

EVs competitive landscape is dominated by Chinese brands, holding 9 out of the top 10 positions. Market leader is BYD with 109.546 sales (+9.4%) followed by BAIC with 103.879 (+77.3%) and Zotye with 46.400 (+16.9%).

Best-selling model in the 2017 was the BAIC EC 180 with 78.079 units, a huge +599% from the previous year. In second place the Zhi Dou D2 EV with 42.342 (+365%) and in third the BYD Song PHEV with 30.920.
