Danish Auto Sales shines in 2023. Car passenger sales have been 172.179 (+16.5%) fueled by EVs and hybrid models. Tesla jumps on top of the market reporting a huge +640%.

In fact, it totalled 172,719 sales in 2023, growing 16.5% in comparison to the prior year. In December new sales reached 19,179 (+26.0%), completing a 12 month positive streak.
Looking at cumulative data from 2023 brand-wise, the leader was still Tesla -up 17 spots- with 22,334 sales (+640.3%), followed by Volkswagen -down 1 spot- with 16,830 registrations (-1.8%) and Audi -up 4 spots- with 13,134 units sold (+55.7%).
In 4th position ranked Toyota -down 2 spots- at 12,012 sales (-6.4%) in front of Mercedes -down 2 spots- with 10,809 registrations (-10.3%), Skoda -down 1 spot- with 9,383 units sold (+8.0%), Peugeot -up 1 spot- with 8,862 sales (+5.4%) and BMW -down 2 spots- in 8th at 8,562 (+1.4%).
Hyundai lost 5 positions with 8,168 sales (-6.6%) and Ford closed the top 10 with 7,595 new registrations (-2.8%).
Looking at specific models the Tesla Model Y sold the most cars reporting a 675.8% increase from the previous year, followed by the Peugeot 208 which grew 53.9% in yearly volume.
