Danish car sales jumped 31% in April 2013. Peugeot outpaced Toyota for the second place.

As reported by the Danish Car Importers Association – De Danske Bilimportører (DBI) -Danish car market In April posted 15.829 sales, up 31.1%. Year-to-date sales were 57.779, up 9.4%, one of the best performances in Europe.

Giving a deeper look at the best brands performance:

Volkswagen in 1st sold 2.465 vehicles with a share of 15.6%, up 1.0 points of share from the previous month and 0.8 from the third quarter of 2012. Year-to-date April sales were 8.648 with a share of 15.0%. Volkswagen held 3 models in the top 50, with the Up! as market leader.

Peugeot jumped to the 2nd position (5th year-to-date) selling 1.297 vehicles with a share of 8.2%, up 2.2 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 4.085 with a share of 7.1%. Peugeot held 3 models in the top 50, with the 208 in 3rd position.

Ford was 3rd (2nd year-to-date) selling 1.289 units, only 8 models less than Peugeot, with a share of 8.1%, up 0.2 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 4.732 with a share of 8.2%. Ford held 4 models in the top 50, with the Fiesta in 4th position.

Toyota fell to the 4th position (3rd year-to-date) selling 1.276 units with a share of 8.1%, down 1.0 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 4.435 with a share of 7.7%. The best-selling model was the Aygo in 2nd position.

Skoda was 5th (4th year-to-date) selling 1.128 units with a share of 7.1%, down 0.5 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 4.326 with a share of 7.5%. The top model was the Citigo in 5th position.

Looking at the best-selling models, the Volkswagen Up! in 1st sold 1.451 units with a share of 9.2%, up 0.8 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 5.180 with a share of 9.0%.

The Aygo was 2nd selling 619 units with a share of 3.9%, up 1.0 points from the previous month, followed by the 208 in 3rd with 578 sales and a share of 3.7%, up 1.2 points from March.

The Fiesta was 4th selling 543 units with a share of 3.4%, up 0.6 points from the previous month, followed by the Citigo in 5th with 487 sales and a share of 3.1%, down 1.0 points from March, and by the Golf in 6th with 438 sales and a share of 2.8%, up 1.0 points from the previous month.

The Peugeot 107 was 7th selling 431 units with a share of 2.7%, up 0.7 points from the previous month, followed by the Picanto in 8th with 425 sales and a share of 2.7%, up 1.1 points from March.

The Twingo was 9th selling 374 units with a share of 2.4%, up 1.0 points from March, followed by the Qashqai in 10th with 357 sales and a share of 2.3%, up 0.4 points from the previous month.
