Denmark Best Selling Cars ranking has now been updated with Full-year figures of 2019. Due to the high taxation system, the toughest in Europe, the ranking reports among top seller only small or compact models. The best-seller still was the Nissan Qashqai, despite the SUV lost terrain while the Citroen C3 has grown fast, ending not far from the top.
The Danish car passenger’s market is different from the others Scandinavian market, usually high populated by large and expensive models, due to the peculiarity of the local taxation, which penalized the large size cars in favor of the small and compact.
Reading the 2019 sales ranking, data can just confirm this peculiarity and the best seller is the Nissan Qashqai, up 1 spot from the previous year.
However, Qashqai volumes declined 5.4% from the correspondent period of 2018 and the gap over the followers was narrow. Indeed, the second best, the Citroen C3 was not far, gaining 3 positions and ending the year at 3.1%.
In third place, the Peugeot 208 – the 2018 leader – registering a sharp drop (-22.1%) and losing 1 point of share from the previous year.
In fourth place, the Volkswagen Polo with 2.7% of market share, followed by the Toyota Yaris with 2.3%, the Renault Clio with 2.1% and the Volkswagen Golf with 2.1%.
In eight place, the Skoda Octavia with 2% of share – up 3 spots – followed by the Toyota Aygo and the Citroen C1, ending respectively at 1.9% and 1.8%.
