European best selling Cars ranking in September led by VW Golf ahead of Fiesta & Polo. Fastest growing model was the Opel Mokka while last generation Renault Twingo jumped on top of city cars segment. See here the Top 100 models ranking.

The list of 100 Best-selling Cars in Europe is sourced by focus2move.com Mobility Database, which aggregates data from all National Carmaker Associations or Dealers Associations, including for the European Community, ACEA. Data combined the 28 countries of European Community plus the 3 of EFTA (Norway, Iceland and Switzerland) plus East and South European countries such as Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia, Moldova, Belarus, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia, and Albania. We also include little countries like Monaco and Liechtenstein, despite for these countries data are preliminary and subject at a late update.

In September 2014, according to data released by all local Associations of Car Manufacturers and by ACEA (Association of European Community Automotive Manufacturers), the total Light Passengers Vehicle sold in Europe (44 countries) have been 1.685.000, up 2.2% from the correspondent month last year.

Volkswagen Golf reinforced the leadership posting an amazing Q3 with September sales at 61.494, improving 31.5% from same period last year. Cumulate figures have been 443.782 with share growing at 4.2%.

Ford Fiesta was second this month thanks to a 9.3% increase with 38.516 units and share at 2.6%.  Looking at year to date ranking, Fiesta was 4th as in 2013.

Volkswagen Polo in third place sold 32.939 improving volume 8.1% with share at 2.3%. In ninth months, Volkswagen sold 270.634 Polo, keeping the same share of 2013.

Opel Corsa was fourth (28.346 retails) down 5.9%, followed by Renault Clio felt down (-5.3% from year ago) in fifth from the second place gained in the first Half.

Ford Focus was 6th with 26.023 units, down a sharp 19.1% just ahead of Peugeot 208 with 21.594 (-10.8%) and Opel Astra with 21.030 (-21.4%).

Negative was the Nissan Qashqai performance in 9th place with 20.415 sales, down 16.4% Y.o.Y. with share at 1.4%. Behind we find a growing Audi A3 posting one of the best increase among top 100, up 32.6% with 20.016 units this month, followed by BMW 1 Series, up 5.8% with 20.008 units.

In the Small SUV Segment, Opel Mokka posted a +160.4% in September and was first (17th in absolute) with 14.411 followed by Nissan Juke with 11.068 (in 31st) and the year-to-date leader Renault Captur with 10.328 (35th in absolute).

In the City Car segment the last generation of Renault Twingo jumped in first place with an amazing +68.5% and 13.671 retails, overtaking Fiat Panda and Volkswagen Up!.

Others performances to be mentioned have been scored by the Skoda Rapid in 49th place with 8.434 sales, up 139%, Mazda3 in 62nd with 6.892 (up 94.6%) and new Seat Leon in 33rd with 10.591 (up 44.9%).

Disappointing was the performance of the Volkswagen Touran (in 97th down 40.3%) and Tiguan (in 28th down 34.7%) and for the BMW 3 Series (in 16th down 32.8%).
