Finland Vehicles Market ended the 2017 flat from the previous year and still is one of the few countries yet below the pre-2008 crisis level. Introduction of scrap incentive will boost 2018 volumes. Toyota is market leader ahead of Volkswagen and Skoda.
Finnish economy lost some momentum in the third quarter but remained well on track for a solid year of growth. According to data released in December, the economy grew a seasonally-adjusted 0.4% from the previous quarter in Q3, below the 1.1% flash estimate released in November and below Q2’s 0.8% expansion. The slowdown was primarily due to private consumption dynamics. Government consumption and fixed investment, however, gave the domestic side of the economy a boost.
Finnish vehicles market has not yet recovered the pre-2008 crisis level, albeit a stable recovery shown in last years, too slow to recover record level. In the 2016 market ended with 117.848 cars sold and the 2017 was shy, with sales down 0.1% at 117.686.
The introduction of a scrap incentive, up to €2.500 from January 1, 2018, will boost demand for new green vehicles and the 2018 is foreseen with a relevant increase.
