Ford global sales performance in the 2017 has been disappointing losing over 1.9% with 6.28 million vehicles, dragged down by low sales in China and despite the best-seller F-Series hit the record of over 1 million units sold.

Ford is the third best-selling car brand in the World and in the last sixth years has reduced the gap from the second, thanks to a  Compound annual growth rate  (C.A.G.R) of 5.1%. However during 2016 sales improved only 1.6% and in 2017 declined 1.9% with annual sales at 6.28  million.

At regional level, the brand is improving in the ASEAN markets (+13.2%) and benefit from C.I.S. recovery (+18.7%) while is losing in double-digit in the Levant (-34.2%),  Gulf Cooperation Council region (-31.7%) and in Asia (including China, Japan, India and Korea) (-12.2%).

At model-wise, the top-selling model is, of course, the pick up F-Series with 1.076.000 sales, up 8.7%, advanced as second best-selling vehicles world-wide and projected over the 1 million units in the year.

Second is the Focus with 663.000 units (-7.9%) and third is the Fiesta with 411.000 units (-13.2%).

In our exclusive study we report sales, year by year, for each region. So it is detailed the sales variations behind the fact that the top region actually is the American (North, Center and South) achieving a 2017 mix of 51.6% (vs. 56.1% in the 2010). The second region is the European with 23.6% of total (vs. 29.1% in the 2010) while Asia counts 21.5% in the 2017 vs 11.6% in the 2010.

The study reports annual sales for each country in the World and we track Volkswagen’ sales in 140 countries.

On top of all countries in the 2017 there was USA with 39.8% of global sales share (from 36.7% in the 2010), ahead of China with 16.8% (from 6.4%), UK with 7.0% (from 7.1%), Canada with 4.7% and Germany with 4.2%.

In the study all models sales are analyzed from 2010 to 2017.
