Germany First Half 2016 car sales

Germany First Half 2016 car sales up 7% while Volkswagen down 1%. In June the market scored the 13th YoY increase in a string with the new Opel Astra advancing in the podium, first time in 5 years.

Market Outlook

Germany’s economy started the year on a strong footing in Q1 as the economy unexpectedly tallied the fastest expansion in two years.

The pickup in Europe’s largest economy was mainly driven by solid fixed investment, which benefited from surging construction activity during the mild winter, and robust private consumption, which continued to be buttressed by a healthy labor market, loose monetary policy and still-low oil prices.

Despite the fears for the shadow effect of the Volkswagen emission scandal burnt in the fall of the previous year, the vehicles domestic sales kept in the first half a robust speed with June hitting the 13th year-on-year growth in a series.

According to data released by the V.D.A. (Verband der Automobilindustrie) and the V.D.I.K. (Association of International Motor Vehicles Manufacturers), the car passenger’s sales in June have ben 339.563 units, up 8.3%.

During the first half total cars sales had been 1.733.839, up 7.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.
