Global Automotive Industry hits the all-time record in the 2014, posting the fifth annual record in a row at 86.5 million vehicles. We report on the ranking of Top 50 Brands, with Toyota on Top, Chevrolet in decline and Jeep shining.

In the 2014 according to preliminary data collected by focus2move Research Team in over 110 markets, the total new Light Passengers Vehicles global market grew 2.8% from the correspondent month last year, fixing the new all-time record volume at 86.5 million units, over 2.5 million better than in the 2013.

Last year record was the fifth in a row for a very healthy industry that found a break on its growing path only in the 2008 and 2009, mainly for the EU and USA shortfall.

However the year ended with a second half pace lower than predicted, mainly due to Chinese market thin growth.

Toyota, the first Brand in the World, posted its new all-time record sales at 8.3 million units, up 1.2%.

In second Volkswagen hit its record as well, with 6.5 million, but something else will be celebrated in Germany, considering that the Volkswagen Group in the 2014 has taken the leadership in the sector, first time ever for any European brand. More details in the report on 2014 Global Groups.

Following the impressive 2013 performance, when it was the fastest growing brand, Ford last year kept the third place with a thin increase of only 50.000 units (or 1.0%) at 5.8 million.

After a long battle against Hyundai and Nissan, Chevrolet was able to defend the fourth place albeit losing over 200.000 units or 4.6% from the previous year, the worse Y.o.Y. performance among the Top 30 Brands.

The group behind, Hyundai, Nissan, Honda and Kia overtook the market with over 4% growth. All of them have hit their record!

Renault in 9th place fell 1.5% and Fiat 2.7%, losing two spots in favor of Peugeot (+8.3%) and Mercedes (+9.3%)

Among the Top 50 Brands, the fastest was the last, the Chinese BAIC that almost doubled sales from the previous year. Second was Jeep (26th with 875.000 sales, +38.0%) and the third was the Chinese Haval (43rd with 380.000 sales, +35.9%).
