Greece best selling cars 2015 ranking led again by the Toyota Yaris with over 7% of market share. Impressive was the exploit of the Peugeot 208 jumped from 15th to 4th place improving volumes by 125%.

According to data released by the Association of Motor Vehicle Importers Representatives, in the 2015 a Japanese car was again the much-loved by Greece consumer’s in line with a tradition started in the eighties of last century when this was on of the first European countries approached by the Japanese.

The Number 1 was the Toyota Yaris with 5.017 units sold, up 20.5% from the previous year increasing the market share at 7.3%.

We like to take the occasion to remember as the launch of this model represented a milestone for the success of Toyota in Europe. This was the first model designed in Europe and then produced in Europe. The name YARIS derives from ancient Greek.

The current generation (the third) launch represented again an important event in the history of Toyota Motor Europe. In fact, for the first time, the Product Planning Department, the Research and Development Division based in Brussels and the European Design Centre at Sophia Antipolis near Nice have been working hand in hand to develop a product that goes way beyond Europe’s borders.

The work carried out in Belgium and France on the fundamental aspects of the Yaris – external design, interior design and platform – has been fully adopted on some versions of the Vitz produced in Japan.

As far as the 2015 ranking, behind the Yaris the podium unchanged from the previous year despite the second, the Opel Corsa, has lost terrain with 3.492 units (-13.3%) with the third, the Volkswagen Polo, now closer at  3.168 sales (+5.6%).

Protagonist of an amazing boom, in fourth place landed the Peugeot 208 with 2.563 units (+124%) up 11 spots from 2014. Behind, the Nissan Qashqai with 2.562 (+22.9%), the Renault Clio with 2.011 (+8.1%), the Nissan Micra with 1.984 (-4.8%), , the Citroen C3 with 1.909 (+8.2%), the Fiat Panda with 1.781 (-6.2%) and in 10th place the Ford Fiesta with 1.769 (-28.5%).
