Greece Vehicle Sales boomed in May 2014, posting the best year on year performance since 2006 and the seventh winning month in a row. Keeping the upside down trend, Nissan jumped on top of the market with two models in top 4.

Albeit unemployment rate still is at huge level, many economic indicators are finally growing, and the country outlook is improving with benefit for the automotive sector, deeply hit by last year’s crisis and now recovering from a real low level volume.

In May 2014 accordingly with data released by the Association of Motor Vehicle Importers Representatives, the new Car Passengers sold have been 7.459, up 42.3% from year ago, the best year-on-year performance since 2004. Year to date May sales have been 29.510, down 19.4% from year ago.

Nissankept the upside down trend and in May was up, jumping in first place from the seventh of April with 861 retails and a significant share increase of 5.6 points from April. In the first five months of the year, Nissan was second with 2.839 sales and share at 9.1%, down 0.3 points from year ago. The first Ford model was the Qashqai in second place with 347 retails while the Micra was fourth with 329 units.

Toyota in second sold 743 cars with 9.6% of share, down 3.6 points from April, while cumulate sales were 3.371 and share at 10.8%, up points from 2013.  The Yaris was third with 348 sales.

Volkswagen was third selling 658 units and 8.5% of share, down 2.0 points from April. Year to date Volkswagen was third as well and figures were 2.800 retails and 9.0% of share, down 1.2 points from year ago. The best model was the Golf fell in twelve place with 178 sales.

Opel was fourth with 551 sales and 7.1% of share, down 1.9 points from the previous month. Year to date sales were 2.683 with 8.6% of share, down 0.4 points from last year. The Corsa was the best-selling model last month with 361 sales.

Looking at the best-selling models, many results to be highlighted, starting from the Suzuki Alto that rose in 5th place from the 13th and the Audi A3, in 7th from the 22nd. The Seat Mii was 10th, up 26 spots from April.
