Hungary: Car Market boomed 32% in September, best in Europe. Toyota shines.

Accordingly with data released by the Association of the Hungarian Automotive Industry, in September 2013 car passenger’s sales in the country were 4.659, up 32.2%. This was the 7th year on year increase in a string and allowed the recovery of weak first quarter performance. Indeed, year to date sales were 41.025, finally positive versus last year, by 4.4%.

Looking at top brands performance:

Ford recovered the leadership following the August shortfall and selling 639 units with a share soared at 13.7%, up 5.1 points from the previous month while up 0.2 points from first half. Year-to-date Ford confirmed the leadership with 5.309 sales and the strong gain from last year in terms of market share, now at 12.9%, up3.1 points.

Opel was back behind Ford in spite of strong share performance. Indeed, sales at 607 units gave a share of 13.0%, up 2.2 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 4.781 with a share of 11.6%, down 1.9 points from 2012.

Volkswagen was third selling 543 vehicles with a share of 11.6%, up 1.4 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 4.642 with a share of 11.3%, up 2.7 points from 2012.

Skoda was 4th, down 1 spot, with 492 units and 9.3% of share, up 1.8 points from last year. Year to date sales were 4.542 with a share of 11.1%, up 1.0 points from last year.

Toyota soared in 5th with 481 sales and 10.3% of share, a huge increase of 6.7 points from the previous month. Year to date Toyota was 8th with 6.1% of share and 2.499 units.
