Hungary: Car Sales Summary. October 2013 lighted by Suzuki SX4 launch.

Accordingly with data released by the Association of the Hungarian Automotive Industry, in October 2013 the total car passenger’s sold in the country were 5.194, up 28.3%. This was the 8th year on year increase in a string and allowed the market recovery after a weak first quarter performance. Indeed, year to date sales were 46.129, finally positive versus last year, by 6.6%.

Looking at top brands performance:

Ford maintained the leadership although the month was hard and with 653 sales it has lost share from 13.7% to 12.7%. However, year-to-date Ford confirmed the leadership that is now safe for the year end, with 5.962 units and a gap of over 600 units on the first follower. Market share was 12.9%, well ahead of 2012 level.

Volkswagen advanced in second selling 565 vehicles with a share of 11.0%, down 0.6 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date Volkswagen was third with 5.207 sales and 11.3%, up 2.7 points from 2012.

Opel slipped in third place selling 530 cars and losing 2.7 points of share landing at 10.3%. Year-to-date Opel was second with 5.311 sales with a share of 11.5%, down 2.0 points from 2012 when it was market leader.

Skoda was 4th with 475 units and 9.2% of share, down 1.3 points from last year. Year to date sales were 4.542 with a share of 11.1%, up 1.0 points from last year.

Suzuki advanced in 5th place with 431 sales and 8.4% of share, down 0.9 points from last month. Year to date sales were 3.302 with a share of 7.1%, up 0.9 points from 2012.
