Hyundai & Kia at record sales in USA. December sales rose 9%.

Total light passenger vehicle sales were 1.356.070 sales, up 9.1% and year-to-date sales were 13.132.000 were up 14.0%. The SAAR was at 15.35 million (15.5 million in November),

Looking at the Top Brands performance:

Ford ended the year on top of the market. The good news is the stable share maintained across the entire year, showing the Management ability to dose the efforts, maximizing the revenue and profit return. In December sales were 205.518 with a share of 15.2%, up 0.2 points of share from the previous month. Full Year sales were 2.160.859, only 5% up from last year, with a share of 14.9%. The F-Series renovated the dominion on the market while Ford posted others seven models in the Top 50.

Chevrolet in 2nd again, outpacing Toyota, selling 167.091 vehicles with a share of 12.3%, up 1.0 points of share from the previous month. Full Year sales were 1.851.646 units with a share of 12.8% and an increase of 4.3% from last year. The best-selling model was Silverado stable in 2nd position while the Equinox was 15th.

Toyota was 3rd with 158.014 units and a share of 11.7%, flat from the previous month. Full Year sales were 1.763.802 with a share of 12.2% and a progress of 26.3% from last year, when it was penalized by short supply. The top model was the Camry 4th this month, while the Corolla was 8th.

Honda in 4th sold 116.740 vehicles with a share of 8.6%, down 0.5 points from the previous month. Full Year sales were 1.266.569 with a share of 8.7%, improving 23.7% from last year when it was penalized by short supply. The best-selling model was the Civic, 3rd this month, while the Accord was 6th.

Nissan was 5th, selling 99.290 units with a share of 7.3%, flat from the previous month. Full Year 2012 sales were 1.034.406 with a share of 7.1%, progressing 9.6% from 2011. The Nissan Altima was 9th this month and the Rogue was 19th.

Dodge was 6th (8th in the full year) thanks to an outstanding year end rush and 52.391 sales, with share at 3.9%, the best of the year. Full Year sales were 524.989 with a share of 3.6%.

Hyundai was 7th (6th in the full year) with 59.435 units and a share of 4.4%, down 0.3 points from the previous month. Full Year sales at 703.007 represented the new all-time record in US market.

Kia was 8th (7th in the full year) with 39.178 sales and 2.9% of share, down 0.7 points from the previous month and 1.1 points from the Q3. However, full year sales at 557.599 represented the new all-time record in the country.

Volkswagen was 9th (10th in the full year) with 44.005 sales and a share of 3.2%, flat over previous semester. Low rebates level and low dealer inventory give wide future opportunities to the German brand growth in US. Full year sales were 438.134 with a share of 3.0%, improving sales 35.1% from last year and surging at the best volume since 1973.

GMC was 10th (11th in the full year) with 43.921 sales and 3.2% of share, up 0.6 points from the previous month. Full Year sales were 413.881, up 4.0% from 2011.

Looking at the top models ranking, the Ford F-Series ended the year with 68.787 units and a share stable at 5.1%. Full year sales were 640.038.

The Chevrolet Silverado was stable in 2nd, with 50.699 units and a share of 3.7%, up 1.0 points from the previous month. Full Year volume was 413.490. The Honda Civic in 3rd posted 33.118 units with a share of 2.4%, down 0.2 points from November. Full year sales were 331.875.

The Toyota Camry was 4thwith 231.407, followed by the Ram with 30.211 and the Honda Accord with 29.248 units.

Behind the month had not shown substantially news from the previous.
