Germany: July 2012 Car Market down 5%. Audi shines.

In July 2012  the German car market was weaker than expected, declining 5% from last year, influenced by the expectations for the 7th Golf generation, that is ready to be unveiled in the next Paris Motorshow, starting sales in Germany in September. The new model pre-booking activity already started while the deal offered on the last units available of the 6th generation attracted many customers and the Golf family gained share in July.

Focus2move.com forecast for the market is moderately positive with a full 2012 projected at 3.260.000 up 3% on 2011, with a further slight growth expected in the 2013.

Coming from a struggling June, Volkswagen posted a wonderful month, with 58.497 sales and a share of 23.6%, up 3.3 points of share from previous month and up 1.7 from the first half. However, the clamorous number arrived by Audi, able to rank second with 24.265 units and a share of 9.8%, up 1.0 points from previous month and 1.5 from the first half.

Mercedes, 2nd in the YTD ranking, was 3rd with 22.428 units and a share of 9.0%, down 0.4 from the good June, confirming the surpass of BMW.

BMW was 4th, with 19.030 units and 7.7% of share, down 1.6 from previous month and 1.4 from the first half.
