India new cars market boomed +22% in October. Honda shines.

India new cars market

India new cars market boomed +22% in October with several brands reporting their all-time record. At this point of the year, the new all-time record seems done with over 2.75 million cars sold for the end of the 2015.

Economic Outlook

India’s economy slowed slightly in the April to June quarter, although the country continues to outperform the majority of its regional peers. Recent data suggest that the economy picked up pace in the July to September period: industrial production hit a multi-year high in August and both the manufacturing and services PMIs rested in expansionary territory throughout the quarter.

However, weak external conditions are likely to have constrained the economy’s performance: exports plummeted in September, falling by nearly 25%.

On the political front, voting began on 12 October for the Bihar elections—in what is being billed as the first test of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity. A large win for Modi’s party would boost his support in the upper house of parliament, where political opposition has stalled many of the Prime Minister’s ambitious economic reforms. Results will be available on 8 November and early polls point to a tight race.

Market Outlook

Following a string of 12th year-on-year growth, in October the Indian domestic car passengers market boomed over 21% fueled by new models introduction, the season high discount campaigns put in place by the major brands, low fuel price and positive economic outlook.

Sales figures had been 268.430, one of highest month ever. According with data reported by the SIAM, the Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers, thanks to this performance the total new cars sold during the first ten months of the year had ben 2.311.367, up 8..3% from the correspondent period last year.

Two months far from the year-end, the new all-time record volume for this market seems done, with sales projected at 2.75 million.
