India market report. November 2016

Indian Cars Market in November 2016

Indian Cars Market in November increased slighty, despite the economy’s momentum faltered. Maruti recorded over 50% of market share and monopolized the models list.

Market Outlook

The economy’s momentum is likely to have faltered in Q3 FY 2016, hit by the government’s bold demonetization program. Cash shortages have been reported and leading indicators suggest they are hitting activity: the services PMI fell into contractionary territory for the first time in over one year in November. However, the effect is expected to be transient and the economy should benefit in the longer run from a smaller parallel economy.

The new cars sales in November increased slightly with one of the lower improvement of the year, hitting the 12th y.o.y. growth in a row.

According to data released by the SIAM, the Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers, in November the car passenger’s sales in India had been 241.774, up 1.9%.

Year to date sales have been 2.735.056, up 7.4% from the last year.
