Honda sales whopped 88% in resurging August Indian vehicle market. Following the renewed mood generated in the market by the new government announce of radical revolution inside the automotive legislations, August Indian car sales boomed 16%.

In August 2014 according to data collected by Focus2move Research Team through local operators and SIAM, the Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers, total new Car Passengers sold have been 197.703, up a robust 15.5% from the correspondent month last year, posting the fourth year on year market increase. It is not a case that the new positive mood started in May when a new government has taken the leadership of the country announcing a radical revolution in the automotive sector regulation.

In the first eight month of the year sales have been negative with 1.690.162 units, up 2.6% from year ago.

Light Commercial Vehicle sales are not included in these data. Their preliminary figures for August were positive as well with a market volume above 55.000 units, up 18.0% from last year. Year to date preliminary sales data are 385.063, up 2.0% from the correspondent period in 2013.

Riding on improved consumer sentiment, major car makers such as Maruti Suzuki, Honda Cars and Hyundai posted good growth in sales in August 2014, raising hopes of better demand in the coming months with the festival season on the horizon.

Market leader Maruti Suzuki posted 29.3% growth at 98.304 units with compact car (Swift, Estilo, Celerio, Ritz and Dzire) sales driving bulk of the growth. Likewise, Hyundai Motor’s domestic sales grew 19.2% to 33.750.

However, pushed up by the immediate amazing success of the new Mobilio, introduced in the market in July, Honda posted an 88% whooping jump at 16.758 units (against 8.913 units in August 2013) soaring in the podium as the third best carmaker.

Nissan too reported a 60.3% increase in its sales in India at 3.999 units during the month. Meanwhile, other manufacturers such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota, Ford and Chevrolet saw a decline in domestic sales.
