Accordingly with data released by Gaikindo, the Indonesian Association of Automotive Manufacturers, in December 2013 total light commercial vehicles sold in the country were 86.408, up 0.2% from last year.
Full Year 2013 sales were 1.132.664, up 5.0% from last year, new all-time record, and the fourth consecutive. Indonesia market was just 3.000 units better than Australia, another market posting the all-time record in the 2013, and surged in 14th place among World’s Top Car Markets.
Sharing general remarks on Brands & Models performance, based not only on volume but also comparison between potential and performance, focus2move Team quoted the Best of the Year 2013, as Brand and Model. This was the result:
Brand of Year was Suzuki in 3rd with 14.1% of share, up 2.4 points from 2012. Second was Honda ranked 5th with share at 8.1%, up 1.7 points from 2012. Third was Chevrolet in 8th with share at 1.4%, up 0.9 points from 2012.
Model of Year was the new Toyota Agya in 15th place with 1.9% of share. Second was the new Daihatsu Ayla in 18th with 1.7% of share. Third was Suzuki Ertiga in 4th place with share at 6.0%, up 2.8 from year ago.
Looking at the best brands performance:
Toyota sharply reduced the sales speed in December retailing only 24.104 vehicles and losing 8.1 points of share from the previous month at 27.9%. Full Year sales had been 400.526 with a share of 35.4%, down 2.2 points from 2012. Leader among models was again the MPV Avanza, with one of the highest market share worldwide, 20.3%, but a new city car is imposing in the market, the Agya, 15th in the year and in the podium during the last quarter.
Daihatsu in second sold 15.856 units with a share of 18.4%, up 2.5 points of share from the previous month. Full Year sales were 166.922 with a share of 14.7%, down 0.4 points from last year. Best-selling model was the Ayla, the Toyota Agya twin, ranked in 18th in the year and 5th in December, while the MPV Xenia, second in the year, recently fell around the tenth place.
Suzuki ranked third with 14.256 sales and 16.5%, up 2.2 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date Suzuki was third with 159.875 and 14.1% of share, up 2.4 points from last year.
Mitsubishi in fourth place sold 13.558 units with a share of 15.7%, up 2.1 points from the previous month. Full Year Mitsubishi was fourth with 153.353 sales and with a share of 13.5%, down 0.3 points from last year. Best-selling model was the pick up T120.
Nissan advanced in 5th with 4.850 retails and 5.6% of share, up 0.6 points from November. Full Year sales were 61.119 with a share of 5.4%, down 0.1 from last year. Gran Livina was the best-selling model in 7th.
Honda was sixth selling 4.550 units with a share of 5.3%, down 1.1 points from November. Full Year sales were 91.493 with a share of 8.1%, up 1.7 points from 2012.
Isuzu was 7th selling 2.751 units with a share of 3.2%, up 0.5 points from the previous month. Full Year sales were 31.527 with a share of 2.8%, down 0.3 points from 2012.
Chevrolet ranked 8th with 1.729 sales and share at 1.9%, up 0.4 from the previous month. Full Year sales were 15.649 with a share of 1.4%, up 0.9 points from last year.
