Israel: August car market with bated breath waiting for Syrian crisis solution.

According with data released by the Israeli Department of Transportation System, in August 2013 domestic light passenger vehicles sales were 19.550, up 4.4% and the year-to-date sales 152.978, up 3.5% from last year.

Current trend confirms that Israeli car market is mature and stable in the range of 200.000-220.000 annual sales and full year 2013 market volume is projected at 212.000 units, up 3.7% from the previous.

Looking at top brands performance:

Hyundai was again the market leader selling 3.006 vehicles with a market share of 15.4%, down 0.4 points from July. Year-to-date sales were 24.872 with a share of 16.2%. Hyundai held 4 models in the top 10.

Toyota advanced in 2nd place (3rd year-to-date) sold 2.389 units with a share of 12.2%, up 0.2 points from the previous month. Year-to-date was 14.262 sales and 9.3% of share. Corolla surged in 1st position in August.

Kia was 3rd (2nd year-to-date) selling 2.381 cars, just few units less than Toyota, with a share of 12.2%, up 0.2 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 15.292 with a share of 10%. Kia held 3 models in the top 25, with the Picanto in 2nd.

Ford was 4th with 1.076 units and a share of 5.5%, down 0.4 points of share from July. Year-to-date it was 4th with 10.180 sales and a share of 6.7%. The top model Focus collapsed in 13th place in August, while keeping year-to-date’s leadership.

Skoda was stable in 5th, selling 1.005 units with a share of 5.0%, down 0.6 points from July. Year-to-date sales were 8.776 with a share of 5.7%. New Rapid was the best model placed in 9th.

Renault was 6th selling 984 units with a share of 5%, as per the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 7.100 with a share of 4.6%. The top model was the Fluence in 3rd position.

Suzuki was 7th with 880 sales and 4.5% of share, stable from May. Year-to-date sales were 6.900 with a share of 4.5%. The top model was the SX4 in 14th, up six spots from the previous month.

Toyota Corolla posted a great performance in August and surged in 1st position with 1.969 sales and a share of 10.1%, up 7.3 points from July, followed by Kia Picanto in 2nd with 1231 units and a share of 6.3%, up 0.7 points from the previous month.

Renault Fluence was 3rd (up 2 spots) with 684 sales and a share of 3.5%, down 0.3 points from the previous month.

Hyundai i30 was 4th with 617 units and 3.2% of share, down 1.8 points, followed by Hyundai i35 and i25 in 5th with 451 units and a share of 2.3%. The i35 lost 1.5 points of share, while the i25 gained just 0.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were: 4.168 for the i35 and 2.468 for the i25.

Remarkable was the jump of Kia Rio in 8th from 12th , while the Ford Focus dropped from 2nd to 13th.
