Italian Best Selling Cars ranking from 2023 shows Fiat panda as segment leader (-2.6%). Dacia Sandero surges 42.2% in year-on-year sales, rising in 2nd spot.
The traditional narrow streets of the Italian towns and the difficulties to find parking areas continue to be the first driver for people to prefer small cars. In the last decade, the increased average price and the reduced purchasing power have further forced a large part of the population to choose a low-cost car, with the success of brands like Dacia, Kia, Hyundai.
After over 40 years from its arrival in the market, the best seller from 2023 is always the same: the city-car Fiat Panda which has a substantial advantage over all the followers (6.7% market share), with sales at 102,627 (-2.6%).
The Dacia Sandero, with 3.1% market share, rises 1 spot into 2nd with 47,843 units sold and a 42.2% increase from the previous year. The Lancia Ypsilon, ranks in 3rd position with 44,891 sales, an 9.6% year-on-year growth.
The Toyota Yaris Cross rises 4 spots into 4th with 34,954 sales and a 34.5% boom in volume.
The Volkswagen T-Roc jumps 6 spots into 5th with 32,971 sales (+31.6%), in front of the Citroen C3 -down 2 spots- at 31,027 (-2.6%), the Ford Puma -down 2 spots- at 30,799 (+4.6%) and Dacia Duster -up 1 spot- in 8th with 30,143 sales (+19.4%).
The Renault Captur rises 3 spots into 9th with 30,010 sales (+26.2%) and the Fiat 500 falls 3 spots into 10th position with 28,799 registrations (+3.9%).
