Japan best selling cars in 2015 led by the hybrid Toyota Aqua ahead of two key cars model. The market fell down 8% hit by economic recession and just few new models joined the top models ranking.

Best-selling models – The Top 100

In the 2015 the Japanese vehicles market has lost 7.9% of sales from the previous year with a total figures of 5.03 million units.

The best-selling cars ranking, including all vehicles sold (local made, key cars and imported) was led by the Toyota Aqua, the hybrid MPV, with 215.525 units (-7.6%) overtaking the best key car, the Honda N-Box, second and up 3 spots, with 184.924 units (+2.8%) and the former leader, the other key car, the Daihatsu Tanto, with 157.756 units (-32.7%).

In fourth place the Toyota Prius with 134.189 sales (-26.9%) followed by the Daihatsu Move, up 4 spots, with 120.835 units (-12.5%), the Honda Fit with 119.846 (-40.9%), down 4 spots, the Suzuki Alto with 109.355 (-1.1%), the Toyota Corolla (all versions) with 109.030 (-4.6%) and in 10th place the Suzuki Wagon R, down 4 spots, with 108.107 (-38.4%).

Fast growing models had been the new Toyota Sienta, 20th with 63.904, the Toyota Esquire, 22nd with 59.034 and the Daihatsu Wake, 28th with 50.711 sales.
