Kuwait car market surged 27% in September 2012. Hyundai & Kia up.

The car sold last month were 12.290, up 27.4%. Year-to-date September sales were 115.052, up 39.4%. Full year 2012 is projected around 150.000 sales.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Toyota was the market leader, with 3.995 units and a share of 32.5%, up 2 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date September sales were 31.272 with a share of 27.2%. Toyota held the best four models of the month, included the market leader: the Hilux.

Nissan was 2nd, with 1.261 sales and a share of 10.3&, down 0.6 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 12.265 with a share of 10.7%. The best-selling model was the D22, 5th year-to-date.

Chevrolet in 3rd sold 1.027 units with a share of 8.4%, up 0.9 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 8.560 with a share of 7.4%. Chevrolet Tahoe was 6th year-to date.

Hyundai was 4th, selling 897 units for a share of 7.3%, down 2.2 units from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 8.031 with a share of 7.0%. The best-selling model was the Sonata, 8th this month.

Kia in 5th sold 764 vehicles for a share of 6.2%, down 2.2 points from August. Year-to-date sales were 6.970 with a share of 6.1%. Kia Cerato was 14th YTD.

Mitsubishi was 6th, with 672 sales and a share of 5.5%, up 0.7 points from the previous month. Year-to-dare sales were 5.783 with a share of 5.0%.

Ford was 7th, with 615 units and a share of 5.0%, up 0.6 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 5.163 with a share of 4.5%.

GMC was 8th with 410 units and a share of 3.3%, up 0.6 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 3.559 with a share of 3.1%.

Looking at the best models, the Toyota Hilux was the market leader with 929 sales and a share of 7.6%, up 2.0 points of share from the previous month. In second the Prado, with 904 units and a share of 7.4%, down 2.7 points of share from the previous month.

Toyota Camry was 3rd, with 803 sales and a share of 6.5%, up 2.9 points from August, followed by the Corolla (6th year-to-date) with 499 units and a share of 4.1%, up 1.2 points from the previous month.

In 5th position we found both Chevrolet Tahoe, with 306 units for a share of 2.5%, and Nissan Altima, with 306 units for a share of 2.5%.

Toyota Land Cruiser was 6th (4th year-to-date), with 258 units and a share of 2.1%, followed by Hyundai Sonata in 7th (16th year-to-date) with 207 sales and a share of 1.7%, and by Nissan Patrol in 8th (10th year-to-date) with 204 units and a share of 1.7%.
