Latin America best-selling cars ranking in 2024 saw the Volkswagen Polo becoming market leader (+44%). The Chevrolet Onix lost its spot at the top of the podium and ranked in 2nd (-10.5%), followed by the Nissan Versa, up 3 spots and 24.7% in year-on-year volume.
The Latin American best-selling cars ranking, despite reporting data from 41 countries, is heavily conditioned by the trend in the top markets (Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina), which count for nearly half of the regional sales.
The Volkswagen Polo, considering cumulative data up to August 2024, became the new market leader with 4% market share and 100,217 new sales (+44%). The Chevrolet Onix lost 1 spot and ranked 2nd with 81,625 units sold (-10.5%), in front of the Nissan Versa -up 3 spots- which reported 72,159 new vehicle registrations (+24.7%).
In 4th ranked the Hyundai HB20 -up 1 spot- with 62,356 sales (-1.4%), followed by the Nissan Kicks -up 5 spots- with 61,328 units sold (+15.9%) and the Chevrolet Tracker –down 3 spots- with 58,608 new registrations (-9.7%).
The Fiat Argo -up 9 spots- ranked in 7th with 57,906 sales (+23.1%) ahead of the Hyundai Creta with 57,533 units sold (+0.9%) and the Volkswagen T-Cross with 53,074 units sold (-0.2%).
Closing the Top 10, the Toyota Corolla -up 5 spots- reported 32,877 sales, a 4.8% loss from the previous year.
