Latvia Car Market slipped 1% in the 2013, breaking a recovery period started immediately after the 2009 collapse generated by the global financial crisis. In the period 2010-2012 the market had grew from 6.757 to 12.901 units.

In 2013, accordingly with data released by Auto Asociacjia, the local Association of Car Manufacturers, total new light passengers vehicles (cars plus light commercial vehicles) sold have been 12.811, down 0.7% from the previous year.

Volkswagen was again in first place with 2.054 sales and share at 16.0%, up 3.3 points from the previous year, followed by Toyota with 1.502 units and share of 11.7%, up 0.9 points from the previous year and Skoda in third with 905 sales and 7.0% of share, up 0.5 points from 2012.

Thanks to a great improvement, Hyundai advanced in fourth place with 685 sales and 5.3% of share, followed by Nissan with 673 units and Peugeot with 667.

In the models ranking, Volkswagen Golf confirmed its leadership while Ford Focus jumped in second place from the 11th in 2012. Citroen Berlingo was third.
