Malaysia: car market rose 6% in first half 2013. Top 25 brands ranking inside!

June performance was deeply down, with only 40.706 sales and a loss of 31.3% from June 2012. However, first half 2013 was growing from the previous year, with total sales at 313.487, up 6.3%. Second half forecast are uncertain, but Experts’ consensus are for a further growth, with final year volume foreseen at 646.000 units, which will hit the new all-time record. This volume will exceed local manufacturers association (MAA) 2013 forecast of 634.000.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Perodua in 1st sold 13.579 vehicles with a share of 33.4%, up 4.7 points of share from the last quarter of 2012. Year-to-date June sales were 96.873 with a share of 30.9%, up 2.2 points from the Q4 of 2012.

Proton was 2nd with 7.312 sales and a share of 18.0%, down 1.7 points of share from the last quarter of 2012. Year-to-date sales were 64.782 with a share of 20.7%, up 1.0 points from the Q4.

Toyota was 3rd, selling 5.649 vehicles and a share of 13.9%, down 2.7 points of share from the Q4 of 2012. Year-to-date sales were 43.747 with a share of 14.0%, down 2.6 points from the Q4.

Nissan was 4th with 3.611 units and a share of 8.9%, up 2.1 points of share from the Q4. Year-to-date sales were 26.269 with a share of 8.4%, up 1.6 points from the Q4.

Honda was 5th selling 2.640 vehicles with a share of 6.5%, down 0.8 points of share from the Q4. Year-to-date sales were 21.870 with a share of 7.0%, down 0.3 points from the last quarter of 2012.
