Malaysia Vehicles Market sales figures

Malaysia Vehicles Market sales figures reported Toyota & Proton falling down in the first two month of the year while Perodua and Honda kept their brilliant momentum.

In February 2015 according to data released by M.A.A., the Malaysian Automotive Association, the new Light Passengers Vehicles sold in Malaysia have been 50.390, down 0.2% compared with the correspondent month last year.

Thanks to the double-digit growth reported for January, the year to date figures are positive by 6.4% at 107.044 units.

Fueled by the recent introduction of new models, the domestic leader Perodua kept the momentum with 18.589 sales, up 19.1% Y.o.Y. with cumulative sales at 34.656, up 25.1%.

Totally a different story looking at the second, Proton that is struggling losing 22.7% in February after the 16.0% lost in the previous month. This month sales were 8.254 and the gap over the importers leader, Honda, was reduced at 2.ooo units. The Japanese kept growing, registering 6.042 units (+39.9%).

Toyota was again in trouble losing a huge 35.4% with cumulative loss at 36.7%, the worst start of the year in twenty years.

As far as the Car Group’s performance, the leader was Perodua with 36.9% of market share, ahead of Proton with 16.4% and Honda with 12.0%.
