Malaysia vehicles sales drop

Malaysia vehicles sales drop was mitigated in August by new Perodua Bezza. The sedan launched at the end of July boomed with over 10.000 units sold in August.

Market Outlook

The ringgit has recorded drops in recent days, reacting to a decline in oil prices on news that the supply glut will persist until 2017 and due to prospects of a Fed hike, which has stymied demand for emerging-market assets. In July, exports fell for a 22nd consecutive month and industrial production growth was disappointing.

As regard the domestic cars industry the sales losses decreased drastically in August, after the highest y.o.y. lost of July. However a sharp declined in double-digit afflicted again the market in September.

Indeed, according to data released by the M.A.A., the Malaysian Automotive Association, in August total vehicles sales had been 52.312, down 2.1%.  Year to date sales had been 370.242, down 14.8%.

Competitive Arena

In the last month Perodua sold 21.261 vehicles  (+29.6%) booming thanks to the launch of the new Bezza, launched at the end of July and already over the 10.000 units.

Honda was again second with 8.283 units (+20.9%) ahead of Toyota with 6.563 (-19.0%), Proton with 4.436 sales (-50.7%), Nissan with 3.133 (-15.4%), Isuzu with 1.142 units (+4.8%), Mazda with 1.032 (-13.4%) and Mercedes with 952 (-5.3%).
