Malaysia car market rose 10% in April 2014 performing up for the third month in a row and confirming the rule as World’s 21st and Asean 3rd market. Following the presentation of N.A.P. by the government investor’s focus on the market is high.
Following the not exciting first quarter with sales flat from 2013, the second quarter started with a double digit increase that gives substance at the expectations of a new volume record to be hit this year by Malaysian domestic market. In case this would be the third in a row.
In April 2014 accordingly with data released by M.A.A., the Malaysian Automotive Association, total new Light Passengers Vehicles sold have been 58.533, up 10.8% from year ago. Year to date April sales have been 217.466, up 3.3% from year ago.
Perodua on top of the list sold 17.066 vehicles and was back above 30% of market share. Year to date sales were 61.090 with share at 28.5% down 1.4 points from last year.
Proton in second place sold 11.413 vehicles with 20.7% of share, down 0.3 points from the previous month with cumulate sales at 44.147 and share at 20.6%, down 0.6 points from last year.
Toyota was third selling 7.707 units with 14.0% of share, down 2.8 points from March. Year to date sales were 31.892 with share at 14.9%, up 1.0 points from year ago.
Nissan was fourth with 4.628 sales and 8.4% of share up 1.6 points from the previous month. Year to date sales were 16.585 with 7.7% of share, down 0.4 points from last year.
Honda in fifth sold 3.853 with 7.0% of share, down 1.4 points from the previous month. Year to date sales were 19.480 with 9.1% of share, up 1.4 points from last year.
