Mexican New Vehicles in 2016

Mexican New Vehicles in 2016 will be over 1.5 million as the market speed is unchanged and April was the 22nd year on year growing month. Launched one year ago, Kia outpaced the 4.000 units with share at 3.4%.

Market Outlook

Mexico’s economy was more resilient to external headwinds at the beginning of the year. Preliminary data show that GDP growth picked up from 2.5% year-on-year in Q4 2015 to 2.7% in Q1.

Moreover, the automotive sector is the locomotive of the economic growth with both local production and sales booming since over two years. Following the all time record scored last year and the outstanding +13% scored in the first quarter of the 2016, the market kept growing in April.

Indeed, according to data released by the A.M.I.A., the Association of Mexican Automotive Industry, in April the new vehicles had been 118.414 (+25.0%), posting the 22nd year on year growth in a string.

Year to date April sales were 465.764, up a roaring 16.5% projecting the year over the barrier of 1.5 million units sold.
