Netherland Vehicles Sales in October 2016

Netherland Vehicles Sales in October hit the sharper decline of 2016, not sustained by the imminent end to tax benefits for green cars. Opel shined.

Market Outlook

The latest monthly indicators show that economic activity likely maintained momentum in Q3, after the healthy expansion recorded in the second quarter. In August, industrial production continued to expand and growth in retail sales accelerated marginally. Business confidence then rebounded in September, as producers were more positive regarding both order books and future output.

As far as the domestic vehicles sales in October declined sharply in double digit, recording the best fall of 2016. The market hit the 4th y.o.y. negative performance in a row.

According to data released by the RAI vereninging, the Dutch Association of Car Manufacturers, in October the sales has been 30.189, down 22.2%.

Year to date October total car passenger’s sales had been 317.054, down 6.7%.

Competitive Arena

Year to date October, Volkswagen was on top of the list with 35.723 sales (-16.4%) with market share at 11.3% followed by Renault with 27.712 (-3.6%), Opel with 27.044 (+30.6%), Peugeot with 24.104 (-20.3%) and Ford with 18.360 (-11.7%).

Volkswagen dominated the performance by group with market share at 21.5%, followed by Renault-Nissan with 13.3% even like PSA with 11.5%, Hyundai-Kia with 8.5% and General Motors with 8.5%.

In the best-selling model ranking the leader was the Volkswagen Golf with 8.920 sales (-33.1%), ahead to Volkswagen Polo the  with 8.771 (-15.3%) and the Renault Clio with 8.311 (-39.4%).
