Norway: Car Market Report. October 2013 with best-selling 50 models.

Accordingly with Opplysningsrådet for Veitrafikken AS, in October 2013 new car sold in Norway were 12.893, up 3.9%, the fifth raising moth in a row. Year-to-date sales were positive at 118.677, up 1.8% from last year.

Thanks to additional supply received after the summer period, Nissan was able to deliver more Leaf than usual grabbing 5.6% of market share and leadership among models. This represent again a new record for a full electric vehicle after that achieved in the previous month by of new Testa S Model.

Norway confirms its rule as worldwide laboratory for electric vehicles. However, the level of fiscal incentive is really huge and not applicable in any other country.

Looking at the top brands performance:

Toyota kept momentum thanks to its green line up based on leadership in Hybrid technology and is now seriously challenging the full year leadership, actually yet handled by Volkswagen. October sales were 1.890 with a share of 14.7%, up 0.8 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 15.549 with a share of 13.1%, up 0.5 points from 2012. Toyota held three models in the top 8, with the Auris in second.

Volkswagen was 2nd; selling 1.5150units with share fell at 12.0%, down 0.4 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 15.912 with a share of 13.4%, down 1.9 points from 2012. Volkswagen held 3 models in the top 20, with the Golf in fourth.

Volvo was 3rd again selling 1.147 vehicles with a share of 8.9%, down 0.1 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 8.926 with a share of 7.5%, down 0.9 points from 2012. Volvo held 3 models in the top 20, with the V40 in 7th position.

Nissan soared in 4th, up 4 spots, with 1.075 sales and 8.3% of share, up 3.2 points from September. Year to date Nissan was 5th with 6.961 sales and 5.9% of share, up 0.9 points from last year. Nissan Leaf was market leader.

Ford was 5th selling 864 units with a share of 6.7%, up 0.7 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 8.508 with a share of 7.2%, down 1.0 points from 2012. The top model was Focus in 11th position.
