Norway Car Market was up 7% in January 2013. Mazda CX-5 was second.

Following the double digit drop posted in the previous month, the Norwegian car market in January 2013 posted 11.639 sales, up 7.4% from last year. The market trend is still positive and 2013 could represent the new best ever year.

Looking at the top brands performance:

Volkswagen started this year maintaining its 1st position and recovering share after a Q4 2012 almost weak. Sales were 1.680 with a share of 14.4%, up 6.0 points of share from the previous month, up 3.1 points from the Q4 and down 2.2 points from 2012. Volkswagen held 3 models in the top 20, with the Golf as market leader.

Toyota was 2nd, selling 1.287 units with a share of 11.1%, down 3.6 points of share from the previous month, down 4.6 points from the Q4 and down 3.8 points from 2012. Toyota held 3 models in the top 20, with the Avensis in 3rd position.

Volvo was 3rd, selling 857 units with a share of 7.4%, down 1.0 points of share from the previous month, down 3.9 points from the Q4 and down 4.9 points from 2012. The best-selling model was the V70,8th this month.

BMW was 4th selling 652 units, only 6 units more than Mazda, with a share of 5.6%, up 0.3 points from the previous month, up 0.1 points from the Q4 and down 0.4 points from 2012. The X3 was 16th this month.

Mazda was 5th with 646 units, only 7 more than Peugeot, and a share of 5.6%, up 2.4 points from the previous month, up 1.1 points from the Q4 and up 0.7 points from 2012. The best-selling model was the CX-5, 2nd this month.

Peugeot was 6th, selling 639 units with a share of 5.5%, up 2.2 points from the previous month, up 1.1 points from the Q4, up 0.7 points from 2012. The 208 was 17th this month.

Looking at single model performance in December, the Volkswagen Golf was 1st(2nd last month) with 733 units and a share of 6.3%, up 1.5 points from the previous month.

The Mazda CX-5 was 2nd , selling 490 units with a share of 4.2%, followed by the Yaris in 3rd (14th last month) with 403 units and a share of 3.5%, up 2.1 points from the previous month.

The Mitsubishi Outlander was 4th(39th last month) with 392 units and a share of 3.4% , followed by the Focus was 5th (3rd last month) with 317 units and a share of 2.7%, down 0.6 points from the previous month.

The Qashqai was 6th (16th last month) with 277 units and a share of 2.4%, up 1.1 points from the previous month, followed by the Tiguan in 7th (5th last month) with 274 units and a share of 2.4%, down 0.6 points from the previous month.

The Volvo V70 was 8th (1st last month) with 269 units and a share of 2.3%, down 2.5 points from the previous month, followed by the Nissan Leaf in 9th (13th last month) with 265 units and a share of 2.3%, up 0.8 points from the previous month, and by the Prius in 10th (9th last month) with 248 units and a share of 2.1%, up 0.1 points from the previous month.

Behind it was a good month for the Volvo V40 in 12th, 49th in 2012 ranking, for the Honda CR-V in 14th, 50th in 2012 ranking, and for the Peugeot 208 in 17th, 48th in 2012 ranking.
