Peru Car Market in 2012 hit new record sales. Toyota on top.

Preliminary sales data about the light passenger vehicle market confirmed a Peruvian car market of 165.427 vehicles, up 28.4% from 2011, when market was at 128.000.

The Peruvian car market in the last decade reported a real boom, considering that new cars sold in the 2001 were around 10.000.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Toyota was the market leader, selling 31.866 units during the 2012, about 7.000 units more than the last year. 2012 share was 19.3%, down 0.5 points of share from 2011, and down 6.1 points from 2010.

Hyundai was 2nd; selling 25.189 units in 2012 with a share of 15.2%, down 1.2 points of share from the 2011 that was the best year of the last three, and up 0.4 points from the 2010.

Kia was 3rd, selling 17.912 units, more than 8.000 units more than 2010. Share in 2012 was 10.8%, down 0.1 points of share from the 2011, the best year of this three.

Chevrolet was 4th selling 15.520 units, more than double versus 2010, with a share of 9.4%, down 1.9 points of share from the previous year and up 2.5 points from 2010.

Nissan was 5th with 15.209 vehicles and a share of 9.2%, the worst year of the last three. 2012 share was down 1.7 points from 2011 and 1.5 points from 2010.

Volkswagen was 6th with 7.386 units, only 186 more than the last year, and a share of 4.5%, the worst of the last three, down 1.3 points of share from 2011 and down 0.6 points from 2010.

Suzuki was 7th selling 7.176 vehicles with a share of 4.3%, down 1.2 points from 2011 and down 2.0 points of share from 2010, the best year of the last three.

JAC was 8th selling 4.164 units with the best share of the last three: 2.5%, up 1.3 points of share from 2011 and up 1.8 points from 2010.

Mitsubishi was 9th with 3.813 units, about 2.000 units more than 2011, and a share of 2.3%, up 1.2 points of share from both 2011 and 2010.

Renault closed the rank in 10th position, selling 2.097 vehicles with a share of 1.3%, up 0.2 points of share from 2011 and 2010.
