Poland: car market rose 7% in January 2013. Skoda share boomed.

Following a series of 7 consecutive declining months, in January 2013 the cars sold were 26.220, up 7.8%, starting in the best possible way the New Year.

Looking at best brands performance in the last month:

Skoda started the year with a very strong performance, thanks to 4.178 sales and a share jumped at 15.9% from 10.7% in the previous month. The great performance was pushed by Fabia, Citigo and new Rapid sales.

Volkswagen in 2nd sold 2.569 units with a share of 9.8%, up 1.2 points of share from the previous month and 1.3 points from full year 2012. The top model was the Golf 9th, but this month Polo was protagonist surging from 37th to 12th place.

Toyota was 3rd with 1.967 sales and a share of 7.5%, down 0.4 points of share from the previous month. The top model was the Yaris, 7th this month.

Kia surged in 4th, up 4 spots from December, with 1.844 sales and a share 7.0%, up 2.0 points of share from the previous month and 1.5 points from full year 2012. Top model was the Sportage surged in 5th place.

Opel was 5th selling 1.768 units with a share of 6.7%, down 0.7 points from the previous month. The top model was the Astra in third place.

Looking at the top models, the Skoda Fabia was 1st with 1.710 sales and a share of 6.5%, up 3.5 points from the previous month.

Skoda Octavia, the 2012 leader, was second with 1.153 sales and a share of 4.4$, up 0.6 points from the previous month.

Opel Astra was third with 851 units and a share of 3.2%, down 0.4 points from the previous month.

Ford Focus was stable in 4th place with 814 units, followed by the Kia Sportage, in 5th from 9th, Nissan Qasquai, in 6th from 7th, Toyota Yaris in 7th from 5th and Ford Fiesta in 8th from 22nd.

Behind, Volkswagen Polo surged in 12th from 37th and Renault Megane was 14th from 29th.
