Poland: car sales in July 2012 down 9%. Skoda on the top.

In spite of the last two months performance has been negative, the second half 2012 should be anyhow positive for the Poland car industry and focus2move.com forecast a final year at 337.000 units, up 5% from last year and second best year ever for this market.

In July, the market leader, Skoda, sold 2.351 units with a share of 11.2%, down 0.9 points of share from previous month and 1.5 points from the first half. Strong performance was posted by Volkswagen, second with 1.949 sales and 9.3% of share, up 1.6 points from the first half. Behind, Opel has overtaken Toyota for the 3rd position with 1.519 units and a share of 7.3%, up 0.6 from June. Toyota was 4th in the month, while it’s still 3rd in the year to date.

In 5th, Kia surpassed Ford by 50 units. The American brand is struggling at 6.0% of share, down 2.3 points from full year 2011.

Behind, Fiat posted an awful month with only 787 units and a share of 3.8%, down 1.0 points from the first half and 2.6 points from last year. Chevrolet suffered as well, with a share of 3.1%, down 1.2 points from the first half.

Positive performance were posted by Peugeot, Citroen, Dacia, Honda, Mercedes and Audi

Looking at the best-selling models, we have data updated at June. The Skoda Octavia was the leader selling 9.781 units in the first half with a market share of 6.5% (7.0% in June), followed by the Skoda Fabia, with 6.066 units and a share of 4.0% and Opel Astra, with 4.747 units and 3.2% of share.
