Portugal: Renault flied while September Car Market rose 15%.

Accordingly with data released by ACAP, the Portuguese Association of Car Producers, in September 2013 new cars car sold in Portugal were 7.367, up 15.9%, the fourth double digit increase in a string. Year to date sales were 79.269, up 6.5% from 2012 and the year will end above 100.000 units.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Renault kept momentum booming share at 13.6%, up 0.9 points from August and 2.7 points from first half, with 1.002 sales. Year-to-date sales were 8.870 with a share of 11.2%, up 0.3 points from full year 2012. Renault Clio was market leader and Megane ranked 5th.

BMW surged in 2nd place, up 2 spots, selling 672 vehicles with a share of 9.1%, up 1.2 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 5.918 with a share of 7.5%, up 0.8 points from 2012. The top model 3 Series was on podium ranked third.

Mercedes advanced in third place, up 2 spots, with 615 sales and a share of 8.3%, up 0.5 points from the previous month. Year-to-date Mercedes was 5th with 5.326 sales and 6.7% of share, up 0.9 points from 2012. The best-selling model was the A C lass ranked 6th.

Peugeot was third with same sales than Mercedes, 615, and 8.3% of share, down 0.4 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 6.957 with a share of 8.8%, flat from last year. The top model 208 ranked 4th.

Volkswagen was 5th, down 2 spots, selling 501 units with share dropped at 6.8%, down 1.3 points from the previous month. Year-to-date Volkswagen was second with 7.590 sales and 9.6% of share, down 0.7 points from 2012. The Volkswagen’ top model was Polo in second.

Renault Clio confirmed the market leadership with 528 sales and a share of 7.2%, up 0.7 points from the previous month. Year-to-date Clio was second with 4.445 sales and 5.6% of share.

Volkswagen Polo was 2nd, up 6 spots, with 292 sales and a share of4.0%, up 1.6 points from the previous month. Year to date Polo was still market leader with 6.804 sales and 8.5% of share.

BMW Series 3 was 3rd, up 2 spots, with 280 sales and a share of 3.8%, up 1.2 points from the previous month. Year to date it was 9th with 1.960 sales and 2.5% of share.

Peugeot 208 was 4th, down 2 spots, with 263 units with a share of 3.6%, down 1.5 points from the previous month, followed Renault Megane in 5th, down 1 spot, with 260 sales and a share of 3.5%, up 0.8 points from the previous month.

Mercedes Class A was 6th, up 2 spots, with 232 units with a share of 3.1%, up 0.8 points from the previous month, followed by BMW Series 1 in 7th, up 7 spots, with 194 sales and a share of 2.6%, up 0.7 points. Behind, Volkswagen Golf with 193 sales and a share of 2.6%, followed by Nissan Qashqai in 9th with 161 units and Opel Corsa in 10th with 158 units.
