Portuguese Car Market posts in October the tenth increase in double digit. Renault come back on top, while Volkswagen and Peugeot are struggling for the second place. Volkswgen Golf reconfirms its leadership as best-selling car for the third consecutive time.

In October 2014 according to data released by A.C.A.P., the Portuguese Association of Car Producers, total new Passengers Cars sold in Portugal have been 11.780, up 29.6% from same period last year and achieving the 17th year on year growth in a string.

Year-to-date October sales in Portugal have been 119.140, up 34.7 % from year ago.

Light Commercial Vehicles sold were 2.419, up 46.4% year-on-year, while cumulate figures were 19.985, up 58.4% from year ago.

Focus2move full year 2014 volume projection is unchanged at 140.000 representing a 32.7% increase from 2013.

Renault recaptured the leadership lost in September improving volume by 11.4% with 1.247 sales. Cumulate figures were 13.556 with share at 11.4%, down only 0.2 points from 2013.

Volkswagen was second with 1.162 retails or 9.9% of share, up a strong 32.5% with Peugeot breathing on its shoulders with 1.162 sales (up 32.5%) and 9.8% of share. Looking at cumulate sales, the two brands were separated by just 700 units.

Many players scored remarkable performance, exceeeding the50% Y.o.Y. increase, such as Dacia (13th with 354 units, + 89.3%), Seat (8th with 614 units, + 83.3%), Nissan (9th with 603 units, + 71.8%) and Opel (6th with 719 units, +53%). Smart was the only brand losing in double digit, down 33.1%).

Looking at the report on Car Groups, the October leader was Volkswagen Group with 22.3% of market share, ahead of Renault-Nissan with 18.7% and P.S.A. with 14.8%.

As far as model ranking report, Volkswagen Golf was in first (for the third consecutive time)  thanks to an amazing +155% with 663 units sold in October, followed by Renault Clio (first in absolute ranking) with 585 units and the new Nissan Qashqai posting a formidable performance (+159.9%) with 382 sales.

Among the fastest growing models there was the new Seat Leon (6th with 326 units, +334%) with Mercedes C Class (13th with 247 units, + 157%), Peugeot 2008 (14th with 242 units, +135%) and Peugeot 508 (29th with 121 units, +210%).
