Ghana economy is market-based with relatively few policy barriers to trade and investment in comparison with other countries in the region, and Ghana is well-endowed with natural resources. The economy was strengthened by a quarter century of relatively sound management, a competitive business environment, and sustained reductions in poverty levels, but in recent years has suffered the consequences of loose fiscal policy, high budget and current account deficits, and a depreciating currency.

Ghanian vehicles market fell down to 5.347 units in 2015 – after hitting 11.788 sales in 2013 – due to effects of the economic recession. However, the market registered a robust recovery in the following years, when in 2017 sales ended with registrations at 9.150.

In the 2018, the market was hit by another strong sales’ decline. Indeed, sales dropped down 21.4% with 7.193 units sold.

In the competitive arena – despite losing 16.8% from the previous year – Nissan kept the market leadership with 1.778 units sold. In second place, Toyota sold 1.380 units (-20.9%) followed by Mitsubishi and Suzuki.
