Q1 2014 Slovakia car market boomed pushed by a positive economic environment and is the only country in Europe running towards the all-time record. Volkswagen Golf jumped in first position outpacing a list of local made Skoda’s.
In March 2014 accordingly with data released by the Slovakia Associations of Car Manufacturers, total new Car Passengers sold have been 6.015, up 5.0% from year ago. Year to date March sales have been 16.855, up 16.2% from year ago. In April sales were 5.986, up 3.8%.
The domestic carmaker, Skoda, retailed 1.141 cars with 19.0% of share, down 1.8 points from the previous month. First Quarter sales were 3.378 with share at 20.0% up 0.1 points from last year. Despite three Skoda’s were in top 4 models the market leader was the Volkswagen Golf
Hyundai in second place retailed 528 cars with share at 8.8%, up 1.5 points from the previous month with cumulate sales at 1.318 and share at 7.8%, down 0.3 points from last year. The i30 ranked in fifth place.
Volkswagen was third selling 493 units with 8.2% of share, down 5.5 points from February. Year to date it was second with 1.973 retails and 11.7% of share, up 2.0 points from year ago.
Peugeot was fourth with 437 sales and 7.3% of share, up 1.4 points from the previous month. Year to date sales were 1.076 with 6.4% of share, down 0.1 points from last year. The 3008 was the best model ranking 14th.
Kia in fifth sold 375 with 6.2% of share, down 2.9 points from the previous month. Year to date sales were 1.358 with 8.1% of share, up 0.6 points from the previous month. The best model was the Cee’d in 6th place.
