Romanian Car Market advanced 21% in April 2013. Ford shines.

One year later, the Romanian car market was finally positive again, breaking a string of 12 year-on-year declines. April 2013 sales were 5.240, up 21.7%. However, year-to-date sales were 16.473, down 9.8% from last year.

Looking at top brands performance:

Dacia in 1st sold 1.441 units with a share of 27.5%, down 0.8 points of share from the previous month and up 1.1 points from the first quarter. Year-to-date April sales were 4.412 with a share of 26.8%. Dacia held 5 models in the top 50, with the Logan as market leader.

Volkswagen maintained its 2nd position, selling 655 units with a share of 12.5%, up 0.7 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.833 with a share of 11.1%. Volkswagen held 5 models in the top 50, with the Passat in 12th position.

Ford jumped to the 3rd position (5th year-to-date) selling 368 vehicles with a share of 7.0%, up 1.4 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 931 with a share of 5.7%. Ford held 3 models in the top 50, with the Fiesta in 6th position.

Skoda was 4th (3rd year-to-date) selling 357 units with a share of 6l8%, down 1.4 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.471 with a share of 8.9%. The best-selling model was the Octavia in 7th position.

Opel climbed to the 5th position (7th year-to-date) selling 283 vehicles with a share of 5.4%, up 0.8 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 715 with a share of 4.3%. The top model was the Astra in 4th position.

Looking at the top selling models, the Dacia Logan was the market leader, selling 893 units with a share of 20.2%, up 4.8 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.451 with a share of 15.6%.

The Duster was 2nd selling 246 units with a share of 5.5%, down 1.7 points from the previous month, followed by the Golf in 3rd with 185 sales and a share of 4.1%, up 1.0 points from March.

The Astra was 4th selling 172 units with a share of 3.9%, up 1.0 points from the previous month, followed by the Dokker in 5th with 159 sales and a share of 2.6%, up 1.6 points from March, and by the Fiesta in 6th with 143 sales and a share of 3.2%, up 1.1 points from the previous month.

The Octavia was 7th selling 131 units with a share of 2.9%, down 3.0 points from the previous month, followed by the Focus in 8th with 122 sales and a share of 2.7%, up 1.2 points from March.

The Polo was 9th selling 112 units with a share of 2.5%, up 0.7 points from the previous month, followed by the Rapid in 10th with 111 sales and a share of 2.5%, up 1.3 points from March.
