Russia: Light Vehicle Sales Statistics. October 2013. Lada at record low.

According to data released by AEB, the Association of European Businesses in the Russian Federation, Russian car market in October had lost 7.6% from year ago at 234.481 sales, posting the 8th year on year drop in a streak. Year to date 2013 sales were 2.280.983, down 6.4%.

Sales of Chinese brands in Russia have increased by 36%, as of the first three quarters of 2013. Chinese brands have achieved a total sales figure of 71.800 or 3.7% of market share, up 1.1 points from one year ago. Geely is the most popular Chinese brand in Russia, with a sales figure of 19.500 vehicles, during the aforementioned period (+64.4%), followed by Lifan (19,200, +29%), Chery (14,800, +2.8%) and Great Wall (14,500, +70%). FAW, who’s developing its model range step by step, has sold 3.226 vehicles within the first nine months of 2013. In contrast, the sales of Haima and BYD have fallen seriously, within the aforementioned period. (57% and 95.5% respectively). As is known, BYD was being assembled at Taganrog Car Factory (Tag AZ), which had to discontinue production due to financial difficulties.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Lada just appointed Chairman, a fellow of Ghost team, arrived finding the new all-time record low in terms of market share, as Lada 37.484 October sales were only the 16.0% of market share, the lowest ever in Russia, down 0.2 points from September. Year-to-date sales were 380.852 with a share of 16.7%, down 1.7 points from full year 2012. The bestselling model was again the Granta, market leader, but the second Lada was pulled out of top five.

Renault was back in second, up 1 spot, selling 18.413 units with a share of 7.9%, up 0.9 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date Renault was second with 173.495 and over 9.000 more than the third. Share was 7.6%, up 1.1 points from FY 2012. The top model was the Duster ranked 4th.

Kia in spite of losing one spot was strong again with 17.609 sales and share rose at 7.5%, up 0.2 points from September. Year-to-date Kia was third with 164.595 sales and 7.2% of share, up 0.8 points from last year. The top model was the Rio in third.

Hyundai was 4th selling 15.734 vehicles with a share of 6.7%, down 0.3 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 151.345 with a share of 6.6%, up 0.6 points from last year. The best-selling model was the Solaris stable in 2nd position.

Chevrolet was 5th with 14.576 sales and a share of 6.2%, down 0.3 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales it was 6th with 142.318 sales and 6.2% of share, down 0.8 points from FY 2012. The top model was the Niva advanced in 8th place.

Volkswagen was 6th selling 13.935 vehicles with a share of 5.9%, down 0.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date Volkswagen was 5th with 142.663 sales and a share of 6.3%, up 0.2 points from last year. The top model was the Polo advanced in 5th.

Toyota was 7th, selling 12.831 vehicles with a share of 5.5%, down 0.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 127.979 with a share of 5.6%, up 0.4 points from last year. The top model was Corolla ranked 17th.

Nissan was 8th, down 2 spots, with 12.228 sales and a share of 5.2%, down 0.9 points from the previous month. Year-to-date Nissan was 8th with 114.193 sales and a share of 5.0%, down 0.2 points. The bestselling model was Qashqai ranked 18th.

Lada Granta kept the market leadership selling 13.357 units and a share of 5.7%, down 0.6 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 141.834 with a share of 6.2%, up 2.0 points from FY 2012.

Hyundai Solaris was 2nd with 9.738 units and a share of 4.2%, down 0.4 points from the previous month. Year to date sales were 95.497 with a share of 4.2%, up 0.4 points from last year.

Kia Rio was again 3rd with 8.155 units and a share of 3.5%, down 0.2 points from the previous month. Year to date sales were 75.833 with a share of 3.3%.

Renault Duster was 4th, up 1 spot, with 7.737 sales and a share of 3.3%, up 0.4 point from the previous month, followed by Volkswagen Polo 5th, up 1 spot, with 6.309 sales and a share of 2.7%, up 0.1 points.

Lada Largus advanced in 6th, up 1 spot, with 5.765 sales and a share of 2.5%, up 0.2 points, ahead of Lada 4×4, 7th with 5.330 units and Chevrolet Niva in 8th from 11th with 4.490 units.

Lada Kalina was 9th with 4.460 sales and a share of 1.9%, while Renault Logan entered the Top Ten club with 4.380 sales.
